What is Reiki?

REIKI is one of the most effective self-help methods to emerge from the upsurge in alternative therapies over the past two decades.

REIKI (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning 'Universal Life Energy', the vital, creative force that flows through everything. When used as a therapy, referred to as The Usui System of Natural Healing, it is an energy balancing technique for improving and maintaining health, based on the principal that a balanced energy system leads to a healthy mind and body. In these difficult times, many people are looking for something with which to enrich their lives. Whether this enrichment takes the form of relief from pain and stress (physical, emotional or mental), the ability to make better quality choices or nourishment of the spiritual aspect of their being, millions of people throughout the world use REIKI for this purpose.

REIKI is not learnt in the sense of becoming proficient with a technique, but rather learning to work with energy to achieve inner harmony, which leads, in turn, to health and wellbeing. It does not depend on one's intellectual capacity as it is passed from Master to student through the transfer of energy and thus is available to everyone regardless of age, education or culture.

Beginning your Reiki journey

All journey's begin with the first step and the first step is REIKI 1.

In Traditional Usui/Tibetan REIKI 1 you will receive attunement to align and open your energy centres, and will be made aware of the great potential journey you have begun. You will come to know, in a tangible way that REIKI is "Universal Life Energy" and will now be able to incorporate this new gift into all aspects of your life as you travel on your physical, mental and spiritual journey. You will learn what Reiki is, it's history and the process of adapting it to your daily life, through treating the self and others.

Although there is no requirement to continue with further levels, many find the benefits of the techniques taught in Reiki 2 a great compliment to what they have learned in Reiki 1. Completion of these two levels will also qualifies one as a Reiki Therapist.

The second step is REIKI 2

Traditional Usui/Tibetan REIKI 2 teaches the understanding and use of a number of very Powerful Universal Symbols, which are an integral part of the 'healing' formula of REIKI.

The first of these symbols will enable you to enhance all aspects of your life and can be used in a number of very practical situations. The further empowerment of your REIKI energy will allow you to become adept at dealing with, and placating confrontational situations, in being able to clear rooms of negative energy, and to generate protection (both for possessions and yourself).

The second symbol will enable you to work on unresolved mental/ emotional issues that may have limited your potential. This includes any deep emotional issues, which until now have remained unresolved over the years. This is some of the deepest work used in REIKI as it goes beyond the mind to the causal level of the unresolved issue. This is an extraordinary and unique opportunity for anyone serious about clearing blockages in their life.

The third symbol will allow you to send REIKI over a distance, enabling you to use all the techniques already learnt in REIKI 1, and the new ones you will learn in REIKI 2, and, remarkably without having the client present. REIKI is not governed by time and space, so this new knowledge is a wonderful opportunity to help those who may not be physically in close proximity to us.

The ACADEMY of REIKI also offers a fourth symbol in addition to the first three Traditional REIKI symbols. As REIKI energy deals with higher and powerful energy, this fourth symbol will give you an effective method to be able to keep both you and your client 'grounded".

After completing REIKI 2, you can decide the direction of your continuing journey.

You can choose from a range of courses, each providing unique aspects of knowledge. Choose the path of your training, completing as few or as many of the courses that suit your destination. If gaining knowledge of REIKI for your own personal development you can undertake courses which contain aspects that personally appeal. Naturally to qualify as a REIKI therapist or to travel further and become a REIKI Master and Teacher you will need to cover particular courses, but the path through those various courses can be your own. Here is an outline of the various courses and what they provide.

REIKI 3A

Traditional Usui/Tibetan REIKI 3A is a two day 'Personal Growth" workshop, in which you will be attuned to and learn how to use the Traditional Usui Master symbol, the knowledge of which will bring greater power to all the healing skills you will have learned in Level 2.

This powerful symbol will enhance all your healing work, and the knowledge of the symbol will bring about change in your life at an accelerated rate. This can assist your general goals in life or enhance your healing abilities.

You will learn how to use the REIKI Crystal Grid, an amazing technique, which uses crystals for continuous healing. With today's hectic lifestyles this is of great benefit in 'time management'. Psychic Surgery will allow you to remove negative energy, which may be manifesting as a physical illness or mental anguish, due to unresolved issues in your lives.

Techniques are taught for directing healing Reiki energy to the DNA, thus influencing its expression and therefore producing a good and healthy expression through the whole body. The techniques learned in Reiki 3A will allow you to heal those unwanted patterns that have been imprinted from birth.

REIKI 3B (Sekhem I & 2)

Sekhem 1 & 2 is taught over a two-day workshop during which you will be introduced to a sacred form of hands on healing known as 'SEKHEM' which uses symbols to harness the Goddess energy, which brings about a balance of the male/female energy within us. This etheric energy is a finer higher vibration which allows healing to take place beyond the physical 'hands on' approach. Sekhem is the Yin energy, which perfectly compliments the Yang energy of Traditional Reiki.

You will learn how to use nine symbols (three from Traditional Reiki and six from Sekhem Reiki). Not only is this course a beautiful gift in enhancing your personal growth, it will be possible for you to access the Cosmic Healing Bank, allowing you to withdraw energy at any given time.

The Healing Triangle will also empower you to be able to make positive changes to any aspects of your life in which you are unsatisfied.

REIKI 3C (Karuna 1 & 2)

Karuna 1 & 2 is taught over a two-day workshop during which you will be introduced to a sacred form of hands on healing known as 'KARUNA'.

Eight additional symbols are taught in this workshop, each with a specific use in a treatment. This is ideal for the therapist who may be aware of specific issues that clients may wish to heal. Karuna is the application of powerful healing symbols facilitating healing on the cellular level and healing of; past life issues; child, sexual and physical abuse; unconscious patterns; relationships; addictions and aids in dispelling psychic and psychological attack.

It improves learning ability; heals communications; increases creativity; manifests goals; assists in claiming your power; heals co-dependency; insomnia; fear and panic attacks. In Karuna we introduce sound into our treatments, where the symbol names are chanted silently or out loud to resonate at a level of harmonics in the sound spectrum.

REIKI For Palliative Care

The prerequisites for this four-hour workshop are Traditional Reiki 2 and the Palliative Care & Conscious Dying two-day workshop. In this workshop you are taught how to utilise your current REIKI techniques and further techniques specifically designed to compliment and enhance the subjects taught in the Palliative Care & Conscious Dying course in relation to dealing with death in those you are treating or even in oneself.

The addition of Reiki to the skills already learned in the Palliative Care course, are of immense value to the carer. At the conclusion of this workshop the feet will be attuned to the level of Reiki you have previously attained, thus enabling you to send REIKI whilst engaged in other activities.
